Principal's Update 2017

6 October 2017

After a busy start to the new academic year, all students and teachers have settled back to the excitement of school life. We welcome in particular our new First Year students to the De La Salle community and we acknowledge the successes of our Leaving Cert students as they embark on the next journey in their young lives.

The overhaul and revamp of our lighting and electrical systems took place over the summer. This important work has made the College a safer and greener environment. This summer work is only the beginning in the ever changing physical environment of De La Salle College, Churchtown. We are currently in the process of upgrading our computer lab into a state of the art facility that will enhance our student's learning and technical abilities. The construction of our new library, which begins shortly, will provide a welcoming and comfortable environment for our students to embrace the joys of books and reading. This space will also allow for the implementation of the Accelerator Reader Programme that will help to monitor and improve the literacy of all our students.

As a result of these major developments, the College has decided to postpone our annual Open Evening that was due to take place in October. This Open Evening will now take place in the New Year where we look forward to meeting as many prospective LaSallians and their parents and showcasing what De La Salle College, Churchtown as to offer.

Another date to keep in the diary is Sunday, December 3rd. This day sees the return of the De La Salle Christmas Fair and it is sure to be an enjoyable and festive day for everyone in the Churchtown community.

Finally, we would like to thank the Parent's Association and all our wonderful student volunteers who bag packed in SuperValu Churchtown last weekend. All money raised goes towards our Library and Computer Lab upgrade and we are so appreciative of everyone who contributed to this worthwhile cause.

All College updates and news can be followed on the school website and on Twitter @DeLaSalleCtown
