Our Under 13 rugby team took part in the Irish Schools Rugby Festival at the Aviva Stadium on Sunday 11th October. They played two matches in all, the first of which taking place on the back pitch in the shadow of the Aviva Stadium, against a team from Cork. It was a comprehensive victory for Salle's first years, who were both faster and stronger than their opponents and did not look like a team that had only been together for little more than a month.
The second game took place within the stadium itself, against a team from Mayo. This time it was a much tougher test against bigger, more experienced opposition, and although we came out second best, it was an experience none of the boys will ever forget.
The next part of a memorable day was a tour of the dressing rooms, beginning with the players' entrance to the stadium, followed by the changing rooms themselves, the warm up room and finally a walk out the tunnel one last time.
Overall it was a hugely enjoyable day for students and teachers, and Salle Under 13s now join an elite list of teams to have played at the home of Irish Rugby.
