Leaving Certificate Geography
Leaving Certificate geography may be studied at Ordinary or Higher level. The course is divided into core, elective and optional units of study. Geography is assessed at Ordinary and Higher level. Students are expected to complete a report on a geographical investigation and to sit a written examination.
Leaving Certificate geography will help students develop an understanding of the changing relationships between the physical and human worlds. Through their study of geography, students will develop geographical skills that will help them to make informed judgements about issues at local, national and international levels.

Who would this subject suit at Leaving Certificate?
This subject suits a variety of students. Students that are self motivated and work hard will thrive in geography due to the exam layout. The project that is worth 20% is a draw for students as this subject is not solely exam focused. Students that enjoyed Geography at Junior cycle would enjoy this course.
​Students don’t need to have completed geography at junior cycle however this can benefit students in exams.
Type of Homework/Projects/Assignments
Homework ranges from short questions, making notes to long answers. All homework is given to air student learning and prepare students for the exam.
