Attendance

Each student should attend school every day unless exceptional circumstances prevail. Medical and dental appointments should be made (when possible) outside school hours. Holidays should not be taken during term time. Parents/guardians should contact school reception to let the school know if their son is sick or is going to be absent from school.

 

All notes must be dated and recorded in the Student’s Journal by the parent/guardian giving precise reasons for absences. Absence/Late Forms are provided at the back of the School Journal For Parent’ use.

 

A student must have written parental permission in addition to permission from his Class Tutor or Year Head before leaving school. He must sign the ‘Sign Out Register’ in the Receptionist’s Office.

 

Parents need to be aware that any student who is absent for 20 days or more, will be reported to the National Education Welfare Board, in line with the Education Welfare Act.
